Youth Sports

Benefits:

Positive Competition

We believe competition is a positive process when the pursuit of victory is kept in the right perspective.  The right perspective is when adults make decisions that put the best interests of the children above winning the contest.  Learning to compete is important for children, and learning to cooperate in a competitive world is an essential lesson of life.  Through YMCA Sports, we want to help children learn these lessons.

Fair Play

Fair play is about playing by the rules and more.  It’s about you and your players showing respect for all who are involved in YMCA Sports.  It’s about being a role model of good sportsmanship and guiding players to do the same.  Remember, we’re more interested in developing children’s character through sport than in developing a few highly skilled players.

Family Involvement

YMCA Sports encourages parents to be involved appropriately along with their child’s participation in our sport programs.  In addition to parent being helpful as volunteer coaches, officials, and time keepers, we encourage them to be at practices and games to support their child’s participation.

Youth Sports:

Pitch, Hit, and Run! - YMCA Baseball/Softball Event

Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run (PHR) events provide boys and girls an opportunity to showcase their baseball and softball skills, with the opportunity of earning a chance to attend and compete for a Championship during the 2024 MLB World Series! Approved local events give youth organizations an opportunity to provide a free and high-quality experience for their participants. Even more, by hosting, they expand their programs, while building a strong relationship with MLB, MiLB, and its partners.

The Pitch, Hit & Run program is a free event series for boys and girls, and consists of a series of movements that are important in baseball and softball. Participants will compete in either 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, or 13-14 age division, with the Age Cut-off set on November 15, 2024. They will be tested, and their measurements will be recorded for points. Based on their scores, they will advance from a Local Event to a Team Championship and then to the Finals hosted at the World Series.
