Family Swim: We will offer Family Swim times on Friday evenings from 6:00-8:45 pm and Saturdays from 1:00-8:45 pm. Again, members may call the Y to reserve a 45-minute session. Each family will enjoy two open lanes for their Family Swim time. Immediate family members only within reserved lanes. Thank you.
Lap Swim: YMCA Members may call the Y up to 24 hours in advance to reserve a 45-minute time slot/lane to lap swim or aerobic exercise. *Beginning September 8th, two (2) swimmers will be scheduled per lane with entry to pool at opposite ends.

Policy Reminder: NOTE: It is required that children 9 and under be accompanied by an adult at all times while at our YMCA and during Open Swim times. Children 9 and under must be accompanied to and from programs/classes by a parent/guardian. No Front Entry drop off or pick up.
Because of the necessary swim waiver that needs to be signed by a parent/legal guardian, aquatic classes may not be registered for online. Please register at the front desk, or you may call to register if your child already has a waiver on file.
Due to COVID19, aquatic programs and classes have been updated for physical distancing recommendations. All classes run in 5-week sessions. Parent observation is usually the final day of each 5-week session unless otherwise stated. Look for signs every 5 weeks for parent observation dates. Classes may be cancelled if there is insufficient enrollment. Children MUST be potty-trained. No disposable or swim diapers permitted, except for Swim Starters Stages (ages 6-35 months). All swimmers must have a swim waiver on file.
The Y has been providing swim lessons since 1910, and it's our mission that children learn to be safe around water and enjoy the benefits that come with learning to swim. As part of a nationwide YMCA effort to provide consistency in swim lesson formats and increase the safety of children in and around water, we have recently upgraded our swim lesson program to the YMCA Stages for Swimming. The upgrade will enable our instructors to provide more personalized attention to all swimmers, and we've added elements of the YMCA's Safety Around Water program that teaches the critical skills sets kids need if they unexpectedly find themselves in water.
Natural Progression: Swimmers will be taught the same skills in all age groups. They will be divided into classes based on their skills progression and developmental milestones.
Emphasis on Water Safety: In addition to swimming skills, swimmers will learn water and personal safety customized for our area. Swimmers will be introduced to safety strategies such as asking permission to go near the water or the principles of boating safety. The Warren YMCA is dedicated to reducing the risk of drowning, which is a leading cause of death amongst youth and adults.
Integrating Core Values: The Warren YMCA is committed to reaching the whole child: Physically, Mentally, and Socially. Lessons will include an age appropriate session to introduce, model, and celebrate the four core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.

2. Swim Basics: Preschool (Ages 3-kindergarten) or 1st grade & up (Levels 1-3)
3. Swim Strokes: 1st grade & up (Levels 4-6)

Accompanied by a parent or guardian, infants and toddlers learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills through fun and confidence-building experiences. Parents and guardians learn about water safety, drowning prevention and the importance of supervision around water. Swimmers begin with Level A and progress to Level B before moving to Swim Basics at age 3.
Introduces infants and toddlers to the aquatic environment and helps them to be comfortable in the water through fun confidence-building experiences. Designed for the child's first time in the water. Parents accompany children and introduce them to the aquatics environment. Grandparents, relatives or babysitters are welcome to participate in lieu of a parent. This is a 5-week session program, meeting twice per week. All children must wear swim diapers if not potty-trained. Maximum enrollment = 12.

Students learn personal water safety and achieve basic swimming competency by learning benchmark skills: swim, float, swim and jump, push, turn, grab. Swim Basics are divided into three progressive categories: Stage 1 - Water Acclimation; Stage 2 - Water Movement; Stage 3 - Water Stamina. Our swimming instructors will evaluate each participant at the beginning of each session and ensure they are placed appropriately within Swim Basics.
** Must be age 3 before the first day of the session and must be completely potty-trained.
COVID19: Due to physical distancing recommendations, class size will be limited to 12 participants per class. Instructors will wear face shields at all times. Parents may attend with child and assist with instruction in the water if concerned with physical distancing, but not required.

For anyone with a physical or mental handicap. This program run by the YMCA and the Don Mills Achievement Center is held on Friday evenings from 6:00 - 7:00 pm September through mid-May each year. Swim time is split between lessons and fun swim. The first day of 2020 will be January 3, 2020. Karen Lyle is the coordinator. Volunteers are always needed to help. The YMCA ADA /Family Locker Room is available for those needing assistance.

This class is for those suffering from arthritis, muscle ailments, or back problems. A certified instructor takes the class through a series of slow, gentle exercises in the water with a concentration on range of motion exercises. Participants do not need to know how to swim, as all exercises are performed in the shallow end of the pool. The hydraulic chair lift and portable steps are available for those who need help in or out of the pool. Held 2x per week on Monday and Wednesday.

A competitive swim team for boys and girls ages 6-18. Major emphasis is on stroke development, teamwork, and the development of the YMCA's four core values. Participants must be able to swim the length of the pool without stopping, using the crawl stroke. Must be a YMCA Member to register. See "Swim Team" tab for complete program details. Registration begins August 12, 2020. All swimmers (parents) must complete a 2020-21 Swim Team Emergency Form at the Front Welcome Desk.

This program is for anyone age 16 and older. Participants must be able to do the following swimming skills in order to pass the water pre-test: front crawl stroke, breast stroke, side stroke, elementary back stroke, front dive, surface dive to bottom of 12 foot and retrieve an object, treading water and underwater swimming.
The course consists of ASHI Basic Life Support, ASHI Emergency Oxygen Administration, ASHI First Aid, YMCA Lifeguard e-lessons, and the YMCA Lifeguard course. After successful completion of all these, the participant is qualified for a lifeguard position anywhere in the United States.
**Participants may bring their own 'victim' if uncomfortable with close contact of other class participants due to COVID19 physical distancing requirements. **Begins with a water pre-test TBA from 6:00-7:00 pm.

This 1-week course is for swimmers ages 12-15. Participants will learn how to be a lifeguard, earn their CPR, First Aid, and Oxygen certifications. They will gain experience shadowing as a honorary Junior Lifeguard. Classes are held Monday thru Friday from 5:00-8:00 pm and include both classroom and pool time. Must be able to attend all classes. (Participants who complete this course are eligible to receive a 20% discount off cost of Warren YMCA Lifeguard Course.)

The Warren County YMCA manages the outdoor Warren Municipal Pool located at 7 Pool Street, Warren, Pa. Season pass applications are available at the YMCA or at the Municipal Building.
